Make a Wish! - OLW #2

I made this card for the Simplicity One Layer Wednesday challenge #2. The challenge was to use glitter or flock somewhere on a one layer card. I used crystal Glitzee on the icing on the cupcake which I applied with a cotton bud to minimise big lumps of glue.

Happy Birthday - Cardpatterns Sketch #61

This week's sketch by Cardpatterns is incredibly clean and simple - right up my alley!
Happy Birthday - Card Patterns Sketch #61

I'm really impressed by the fact that I was able to stamp the sentiment straight, but what seems to happen often when I stamp, a part of it didn't stamp as well as the rest and it irks me, but not enough to stop me from posting it.. :)

Size of card: 4" square

Supplies:
Card/Paper - Quill cardstock, Inque Boutique "Isn't it Romantic"
Ink - Versacolor "Ash Rose"
Stamp - Hero Arts sentiment
Tools - Fiskars paper trimmer, Martha Stewart Circle Cutter, Fiskars scallop punch, Bostik glue tape

Thinking of You - Embellish Magazine Colour Challenge

Another challenge card - this time for Embellish Magazine's Embossing Colour Challenge

Thinking of You - Embellish Magazine Colour Challenge

It was hard putting the four colours together (pink, blue, green and yellow) but I did it! Hopefully with pleasing results :)

I embossed each line using clear embossing powder with versacolor inks using the trusty old toaster (I don't emboss enough to justify spending money on a heat gun). It took me simply ages to work out where to put the sentiment until I framed it with more of the yellow. I'm glad I did because that yellow strip looked kind of weird sitting all by itself.

Size of card: C6 (A5 folded)

Supplies:
Card/Paper - Quill cardstock, Grant Archival plain paper
Ink - Versacolor "Orchid", "Sky Blue" and "Green Tea" and Versafine "Black Onyx"
Stamp - Hero Arts sentiment, PaperCraft border
Embellishments - Zing clear embossing powder
Tools - Fiskars paper trimmer, foam tape, Fiskars "Clouds" paper edgers, Bostik glue tape

Thank you - My Grafico Sketch #45

This is another card inspired by a sketch - this time from My Grafico

Thank You - MyGrafico Sketch #45

I used one of the flowers in the Butterfly Garden digital stamp set from My Grafico for this card. This is my first attempt at paper piecing and I really like the effect of mounting the second layer up on foam tape as well as the first.

Card/Paper - Quill cardstock, Inque Boutique paper "Isn't it Romantic" set
Ink - Versamagic "Midnight Black"

Hello - Cardpatterns Sketch #60

This is my second attempt at watercolouring on a card, and I think I'm getting better at it! Obviously I have to master shading yet, but at least it isn't dark and splotchy like the first card I tried it on.

Cardpatterns Sketch #60

The butterfly is actually a ding, which is a font that is pictures instead of letters. Check out Fontspace for this one and more.

This is also the first card I've used distressing techniques on with my new Snow Block... I'm having lots of fun with it!
To get the 'inny and outy bits' for the sentiment I used my Fiskars 'Clouds' paper edgers in opposing directions.
I sponged the edges of the sentiment and the butterfly with 'Petal Pink' Versacolor ink which I also used to watercolour the lighter pinks on the butterfly.

Size of card: C6 (A5 folded)
Supplies:
Card/Paper - Quill cardstock, Studio B patterned paper, Grant Archival plain paper
Ink - 'Petal Pink' and 'Pink' Versacolor, 'Onyx Black' Versafine + yellow Faber-Castell coloured pencil
Stamp - Inkadinkado
Tools - Fiskars shapecutter, Fiskars paper trimmer, Zig H2O pen, Bostik glue tape, Fiskars 'Clouds' paper edgers, Snow Block

Lots of birthdays

I seem to make more birthday cards than anything else (I guess because everyone has them, right?)
These two were made for my friend's parents whose birthdays are three days apart so she needs to send them off together.

Happy Birthday - Floral

Obviously this one is for her Mum. I used one of the papers from Kaisercraft's "Blushed" collection - 'Passion', another favourite of mine as it's the second time I've used this card layout and patterned paper together. It wasn't me lacking imagination, I assure you - I asked her to choose one of my existing cards to model her Mum's off and she chose this one.

I made the flower petals with a plastic template (I don't know the brand) by adhering double sided tape to the back of the paper and then marking that side with a pen then cutting out. That's my trick to making my own stickers.

Size of card: C6

Supplies: Quill cardstock, Kaisercraft "Blushed" patterned paper, Grant Archival plain paper, Kaisercraft and Inkadinkado stamps, Versacolor ink "Black".

For her Dad I used more Kaisercraft, this time the "Squadron" collection - 'Major'.
Happy Birthday - Stripes

Size of card: DL

Supplies: Quill cardstock, Kaisercraft "Squadron" patterned paper, Hero Arts stamp, Versacolor ink "Atlantic".

Devonshire - CPS Challenge

Hello again! I'm using the Devonshire collection of papers by Kaisercraft again. I just love this collection, it's so vintage and cottagy.

Devonshire - CPS Sketch 163

I actually bought the 6x6 paper pad on a whim from Stampin' Stuff when I was ordering a bunch of other bits and pieces because it was half price, and I'm so glad I did! I think I use it even more than the Peachy Keen or Lilac Avenue Kaisercraft collections that I bought on purpose because I just had to have them.

I mounted the top part on foam to give it a bit of dimension, and also because I think it accentuates the ribbon.

Supplies: Cream cardstock, Kaisercraft "Devonshire" papers, Kaisercraft ribbon - earth tones pack.

Teapot - Colour challenge

This is the first card I've made with something I've watercoloured, and though I like the colour combination I still think I have a ways to go with the technique...

Cardpattern challenge - Thank you

Another challenge card from me. I had no idea how to make a card using this sketch at first, but once I chose the paper it practically made itself.

thank you...

I used my Fiskars shapecutter template to cut the circle, and to make the sentiment curvy I trimmed the short edges with my Fiskars paper edgers (clouds).

Supplies: Lexel "Sandstone" cardstock and paper, Kaisercraft patterned paper "Jade's Garden", Inkadinkado stamp, Versacolor ink "Pinecone".

"Blushed" covered notebook

I love covering notebooks! It's extremely easy to do, makes a lovely gift and most importantly, it's a great way of using up scrap bits of paper. I'm going to give this to my Mum for Mother's Day along with this card.

Here's a view of the front:

And the back/side:

More for Mum

Here's another one for Mum (this time mine). Since Mother's Day is coming up upon us I thought I'd do these while I'm inspired.

For Mum

For Hero Arts' April 2010 contest the themes are Home and Mother's Day. I've obviously chosen Mother's Day for the following card:

For Mum

The rule is to use at least one Hero Arts stamp or digital element, and since I have a very limited amount of Hero Arts stuff I thought I'd give the digital element a go. I went to their digikit area at 2 Peas in a Bucket and I was overwhelmed with choice! I finally picked out the Botanical Tulips set (and got a few other things besides, but those are for another day!) which suits my purpose perfectly as this card will be for my Mother-in-Law who is an avid gardener like myself.

Supplies: cre8tive textured cardstock, Kaisercraft 'Devonshire' patterned paper, Grant Archival plain paper, My Sentiments Exactly 'funtastic alphas', versacolor ink 'bamboo', Hero Arts digital 'Botanical Tulips'.

Thank you

This was my first foray into using bows/ribbon on a card and I'm still not sure it's "me". I am a fan of clean and simple (CAS) so I don't like alot of embellishments on my cards - however the black ribbon seems quite muted in this instance.

Perched bird... thinking of you

This is a cute 3" circle card using paper by my favourite manufacturer - Kaisercraft. The perched bird is part of a digital stamp from mygrafico.com
printed on the other side of the same paper "Daisy Chain" from the Country Grove set.

A Spoonful of Sugar Challenge #97
